A vacationing individual faced a security crisis when a break-in led to the theft of their Ledger Nano X. The incident reignited fears about crypto asset safety, despite the device being PIN-secured and a 24-word seed phrase stored separately.

In their online post, the victim expressed concerns about potential risks, stating, "I knew in theory that the Ledger was very secure, but once it actually happens your brain switches to a stupid panic mode."

Community Response: Panic and Reassurance

Support poured in from forums, highlighting both reassurance and anxiety. Commenters pointed out that even educated thieves canโ€™t access the seed without the PIN. Many stated,

"If the thieves only have your Ledger device and donโ€™t have your PIN or recovery phrase, they canโ€™t access your funds."

A few recommended transferring funds to a new wallet and emphasized that after three incorrect PIN attempts, the Ledger automatically resets, erasing any stored data on it. This bolsters the confidence in the deviceโ€™s security.
