A recent wave of scam emails is raising alarms among crypto enthusiasts. On May 2, 2025, reports surfaced about a phishing attempt disguised as a notification from a popular crypto platform, Gemini. Sources confirm that users are urged to enter a verification code, but Gemini has quickly stated the message is not legitimate.
The fraudulent email presents an urgent tone, claiming that users need to confirm a number change. It says:
"Thereβs one quick step you need to complete to confirm your number change."
The scammers request users enter a six-digit verification code, pretending it's part of a service process. Users are warned that failure to comply may lead to account issues; however, Gemini confirmed it wasn't from them.
Many people are voicing their opinions on message boards, with three main themes emerging:
Caution: Multiple posts advise not to interact with such emails. "Please do not interact with this email. Itβs a scam," one comment emphasizes.
Urgency of Awareness: Users are sharing experiences to alert others. "Stay safe!" stated another.
Lack of Action from Platforms: Some voice frustration regarding the lack of ongoing measures from platforms to protect users.
People are understandably on edge with the ongoing threat of scams. As one top comment states:
"Itβs crucial that you do not respond or click on any links within it."
π« Avoid the Scam: Users are urged not to engage with the email.
π Protect Your Info: Always verify suspicious messages directly with the company.
